VIDEO PROJECTS

Department Store Bloomers

The song was written and recorded by my wife, Eva Pepe. I edited the video using public domain footage—a project we worked on during the pandemic shutdown.

Stay Away From Him

This music video of my wife's band was shot in 1987 with ancient technology. Her sister, Susan Hoffman-Pletter, wrote the song. Thank you, Coronavirus, for giving me the time to work on my problem with procrastination.

Six Minutes: Twenty Seconds

Rising gun violence in the U.S. directly impacts high school students with, among other incidents, the mass shooting in Parkland, FL on February 14, 2018. A month later an international day of student protest is organized. The video recounts that day's events through news footage and documents four rallies in Long Island, New York

Grace Cathedral Hill

The Decemberists song, Grace Cathedral Hill, inspired this travelogue shot during a 2017 trip to San Francisco.

Acts of God and Man

I woke up one morning to a CRACK and THUD. I looked out my bedroom window and saw that a tree was on top of my car. Another car, parked just inches from my poor vehicle, was unscathed. I try not to take these things personally.

The 2018 Women's March

Scenes from the event shot on January 20th in NYC.

Millie's Gravy

My mother died at the age of 93 on May 8, 2017. About a decade earlier I recorded her making gravy, known as tomato sauce to most people. She was famous for her gravy - as good a legacy as any - and now that secret recipe is here for all to see, make and enjoy.

Women’s March - New York City January 21, 2017

Scenes from the event shot on the day after the Trump inauguration.

Where Are You St. Michael?

Using primarily public domain "found footage," this impressionistic music video was inspired by a song written by John Passadino, and recorded by Passadino, Thomas DeMeco, Adrian Cosentini, Cecelia Cosentini, and Danny Passadino.

All Fall Down

Halloween, the modern-day carnival: Children toy with the idea of death, Men dress as supermen. Feel free to embrace your inner buffoon or wear a mask of your choosing. Tomorrow the decorations get put away, and the mask of normalcy returns.

Jabberwocks

(experimental)

Four tribes talk, talk and talk, but never have anything good to say. Splinter groups propose an alternative but are devoured by the overseer. Divide and conquer!

Smoke and Moonlight

An artist statement and video essay about growing old and being possessed by the things we possess.
